Audible vs Kindle Unlimited? Which is best for you? You might not know what the difference is…well, if that’s the case, let me break it down for you.

It’s all about Amazon

That’s right, both Audible and Kindle Unlimited are both programs from Amazon to make accessing reading books just that little bit easier.

The easy way to think about the difference is that Kindle Unlimited is for unlimited access to eBooks whereas Audible is access to audio books.

Technically however, there is some cross over which is why people often find it difficult to decide between the two platforms. And that’s what I’m here today to help clear up.

Audible vs Kindle Unlimited – Which Do I Prefer?

Before I get it into it any further, I just want to let you know that I actually use both.

That might sound a bit strange when I’m writing a comparison of the two but they do have their own unique benefits. For those of you who know me you’ll know how much of an obsessive reader I am and that’s really why I use both.

In a nutshell, Kindle Unlimited is a subscription service that lets you borrow up to 10 books from the Kindle Unlimited library. Your Kindle Unlimited downloads are kept together on your device with any other eBooks you purchase from Amazon. This means that with your subscription you can read 10 books for essentially the price of a normal book! WIN.

Audible is very similar except that it is solely for audio books. With your subscription you get free audio books as well as getting a huge discount on any other audio book purchases you make.

Well they sound different…right?

At a glance, they are completely different. One is for audio books and one is for eBooks. So why do so many people ask for the answer to Audible vs Kindle Unlimited?

Well, this is where the cross over comes in. You see, as well as eBooks, Kindle Unlimited also has over 40,000 audio books too. Confused? Don’t be.

What a lot of authors do is release their books on Kindle Unlimited with an audible narration. That means that when you download your book on Kindle Unlimited there may be the option to get the audio book too. Whilst the number of audio books on Kindle Unlimited is less than that on Audible, there are still thousands to chose from.

So, Kindle Unlimited has eBooks and a huge selection of audio books whereas Audible just does audio books.

Becoming clearer? Good. The table below will help clarify a few things also.

How does Kindle Unlimited Work?

Think of Kindle Unlimited like a library. You can go there as much as you want and borrow as many books as you want. But you can only take out 10 at a time.

Your Kindle Unlimited subscription gives you access to 1.5 million eBooks and over 40,000 audio books. Not many libraries in a town can boast that to that many titles!

Amazon has a huge number of books on sale that you can purchase and the great thing about about Kindle Unlimited is that many of these titles are part of the subscription. Think about it, if you buy a book for $9.00 on Amazon you could have potentially gotten it as part of your Kindle Unlimited subscription. So now your $9.99 subscription fee has gotten you the book you wanted plus the option to download 9 more onto your device also.

Remember however, you’re not buying the book, you’re only borrowing it. The beauty of it is though is that there’s no time frame on when you have to give it back. Even when you do give it back, you can always just borrow it again later on down the line if you want to read it again.

It’s amazing, 1.5 Million books to download wherever you want! And all you have to do is get a membership.

So we’re beginning to answer question of Audible vs Kindle Unlimited…It’s now time to ask:
